Job Overview

This role is for a registered nurse who will provide high quality care in a secure mental health environment. The nurse will work with people who have complex needs such as mental illness, autism, learning disability or attention difficulties. The post holder will report to the ward manager and work closely with a team of doctors, psychologists, therapists and support staff. The role includes leading shifts, planning care and helping people move forward in their recovery journey.

 

Main Duties of the Job

  • Act as key worker for a group of patients and plan their care

  • Assess patient needs and create care plans that support recovery

  • Deliver care safely and review progress regularly

  • Make sure all care follows the Mental Health Act and other professional standards

  • Promote teamwork within the service and maintain positive working relationships

  • Supervise junior staff and support student nurses in training
