Job Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses, both experienced and newly qualified, to join our friendly team on Peak View Ward at Vale Community Hospital.
Our 20-bed unit provides specialist stroke rehabilitation, sub-acute medical care, general rehabilitation, and end-of-life care. We are a nurse- and therapy-led service that focuses on effective discharge planning and supporting patients to regain independence through positive risk-taking.
You’ll work closely with the multi-disciplinary team while also being confident to work independently within set guidelines.

Main Duties of the Job
-
Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.

Supervise, mentor, and support both qualified and unqualified staff, including students.

Coordinate and oversee care to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and person-centred support.

Communicate clearly during handovers to maintain continuity and high standards of care.
-
Take part in clinical audits to monitor and improve patient safety and quality of care.
-
Ensure all equipment and supplies are used safely, maintained properly, and kept at appropriate stock levels.

Manage patients’ property and valuables according to Trust policy.

Safely administer medicines using non-medical prescribing or Patient Group Directions (PGDs) where appropriate, following all professional and Trust standards.

Follow all Trust and departmental infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Essential
-
A nursing degree or an equivalent qualification.
-
Ongoing professional development and training.
-
Good communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
-
A flexible and friendly attitude.
Desirable
-
Knowledge of Safeguarding and the Deprivation of Liberty processes.
-
Experience or understanding of stroke care and rehabilitation within the NHS.
-
Basic understanding of clinical governance and how it supports safe, quality care.

Some leadership or management skills, with the ability to take charge of a team when needed.
